Celebrating the Life of Archbishop Dr Bernard Amos Malango
On the 30th of October 2021, we at Africa Community Leadership and Development (ACLAD) lost one of our board members after a short illness. Archbishop Dr Bernard Amos Malango was also the father of our CEO, Dr Nema Aluku.
Archbishop Malango was accorded a state funeral with full military honours in his home country of Malawi, which reminded all present, as well as those far and wide, of the exceptional service and valour he demonstrated as he defended, protected, and sacrificed for freedom and democracy in Malawi. He was laid to rest at Saint Thomas Anglican Church in the City of Lilongwe, adjacent to the Late Bishop Peter Nathaniel Nyanja, former Bishop of Lake Malawi.
The late Archbishop Malango was eulogized by the State Vice President Dr. Saulos Chilima as … a gentle man of God who dedicated his life to guiding mankind to salvation…. Dr Chilima urged Malawians to draw lessons of hard work, love, humility and selflessness from the life of the Archbishop. Bishop William Mchombo, Provincial Secretary in the Province of Central Africa said that the Late Archbishop Malango was a gift to one and all, a man who had a passion to see others grow in the service of God as well as in all aspects of life. We at ACLAD appreciate and thank him for the guidance he provided us. Andrew Sambo, a family member said he was a jovial person who brought smiles to everyone he encountered. This was true as his smile was never far from his lips.
Here is how it was reported in some of the various media outlets…
